“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees—just as things grow in fast movies—I have that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.” –F.Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
They were ready. For early morning Yoga sessions on the deck breathing in the freshest air in the world. Clean, unfettered desert breath. And embarking on those delicious, all-day hikes into such splendid timelessness. Stopping to sketch or photograph the abundance of “Did you see that?” sitings of wildlife and bumblebees, gathering microscopic grains of pollen and fertilizing the desert with their life transformative “buzz-iness.”

It was time. Summer was about to make her gorgeous debut and their plans couldn’t come faster. Calendars were opened up on ipads and iphones. Calls were made in excited bursts, “Are you ready to go?” “Did you clear your schedule?” “Got your tickets yet?” Best friends were straining at the bit to finally reunion. Their united choice was a no-brainer: Joshua Tree Oasis, the most luxurious, healing, breathtaking desert vacation resort this side of the Mojave.
Favorite meals were packed and piles of books were lugged along to read and share. They could barely wait to catch up on long overdue conversations while soaking forever in that sacred Jacuzzi—enough for eight to indulge in such spine-melting magic they so longed for. Stars were counted. Desperately needed naps were taken in body-hugging hammocks. Drinks were poured and the best meals were savored while sitting for hours around that gorgeous rough-hewn wood table from sunrise to sunset—talking, laughing, crying, remembering. “Tell me how you’re doing?” “What will you do next?” “Who are you dating?” “Are you ready to talk about it now?”
Best friends renewing what they always had. Beginning fresh within such a long-awaited summer at Josh—where time stops and life steps up and starts again and yet again…
